Sleep

She shuts her eyes, she’s ready for bed.

The room is dark, the white noise is on, bliss.

She sees the darkness in her eyes, her mind wanders. What if she forgot to turn off that item? What if he doesn’t come back? What if she hasn’t done something right? Her anxiety boils inside her, panic kicks in, sweat drips.

While panicking she drifts to sleep, finally, but it isn’t what it seems.

Nightmare after nightmare occurs, trauma reminders. She wakes in panic, she wakes screaming, she wakes crying.

2am she needs the toilet, she doesn’t want to move out of fear. She goes reluctantly, she is quick, she is back in bed.

Sleep, scream, exhausted.

She awakes to her alarm, she needs sleep.
