I’ll look at it from a domestic abuse perspective
When I told people about my abuse (when I realised it was abuse) I did get a lot of support. However sometimes the support wasn’t great.
People would listen as I tell them my “problems” and they would say a few things such as: why didn’t you leave? Why did you stay? Are you safe?
When looking at these you think they are fine questions. Well they aren’t. If I got a pound for everytime I was asked that I could quit my job and move abroad.
Never ask someone questions like that they can sound judgemental.
So today, just listen and offer support.
